Goshen Community Schools are Green
Judy Miller, former Energy Educator, Goshen Community Schools
Goshen Community Schools earned national recognition in 2019 through educational and administrative initiatives focused on sustainability principles. The Department of Education honored Goshen as a Green Ribbon School recipient for its work teaching – and modeling – environmental stewardship.
Today the district has solar panels in place on four of its schools, and its commitment to green practices and environmental education is going strong. Classes in environmental sciences are offered to students, collaboration with Merry Lea extends classroom teaching into the field (literally), and recycling teams remain in place at each district school.
