Hannah Kurtz
Senior, Goshen High School
I grew up on a farm, so I worked hard for a lot of my childhood. We did a lot of gardening, weeding, spreading mulch, baking bread, that sort of thing.
I’ve lived in Goshen my whole life. I went to Eighth Street Preschool and then to Parkside Elementary School. I always remember walking to school with my dad –– we’ve always been pretty close. My two brothers were adopted from Ethiopia. We’ve all been close since day one. My older brother, Seth, goes to Goshen College. Yavi, he loves sports and he’s always with friends. Kia loves watching soccer. We have a diverse family and I’ve always thought that was cool.
I am currently a senior at Goshen High School and am pretty involved. There are a lot of clubs you can do. This year has been little different because I’m doing an internship. On Wednesdays and Fridays, I go to Goshen Hospital for three hours then I go to an elementary school. I’m passionate about soccer, and I’ve recently gotten into yoga — I’ve always enjoyed health and the body. Working at Goshen Health has shown me that I definitely want to pursue something in the health field, probably in women’s health or on the neonatal side.
I love to laugh. I’m always laughing. I was kind of a weird kid. My uncle once told me a story of how we were at my aunt’s wedding and I decided it would be fun to watch the entire wedding backward and upside down. So I turned around and I stuck my head in between my legs, I watched the entire wedding peeking through my skirt.
