Goshen’s Memorial Day Parade Inspires Community Spirit
Story Submitted by Brian Sapp
It was a picture perfect Memorial Day for Goshen. Weather? Check. The weather was about as perfect as it can be in northern Indiana. People? Check. Main Street was brimming with residents waiting for the annual parade. Parade? Check. The color guards were sharp in their uniforms, the Goshen High School band provided a soundtrack for the march, and all the units in the parade filled the streets with their patriotism.
It all provided a beautiful backdrop to the Memorial Day ceremony at Oakridge Cemetery honoring our fellow citizens who gave their lives in military service to our country.
I’ve participated in many Memorial Day celebrations as a Boy Scout and I’ve even covered a few as a journalist. I’m always moved with community spirit and pride for my country through the somber events. Goshen’s Memorial Day events are as moving as any I’ve ever experienced.
I grabbed my video camera and captured these events. I put them together to pay my respects and give you the opportunity to see the Good of Goshen and share your pride for our city!
Do you have a story you want to tell?
Do you have a story to tell about someone who contributes to Goshen’s greater GOOD?
We invite you to share!
