Myron Grise
Assistant Building Commissioner, City of Goshen
The biggest thing for me is the safety factor. Everything that I do is trying to make a building or environment more safe. I enjoy interacting with the contractors. I did plumbing, heating, and air conditioning for about 40 years, so I know most of the people I deal with.
I’m the assistant building commissioner, and I do all the commercial building inspections in Goshen. I’ve been here six years.
That’s one thing about the commercial side: Goshen is growing, very much. I can see it’s not slowing down. We’ve been very busy, actually, but I like it. It makes the day go faster.
I was born and raised here. All my life, except when I was in the military.
It was a personal choice. COVID was rampant. There were some job sites that were shut down because there was so much COVID on the site. I knew that if I didn’t get the shot, I was going to catch something. I actually asked to get the shot early. I was able to get it through the Fire Department.
I definitely recommend it.
One thing I hear from out-of-town contractors is how friendly everybody is in Goshen. We’ve got guys coming in from Chicago, Detroit, New York who will work here for two or three or four months and they say, ‘Everybody’s friendly.’ That’s one of the things I like about Goshen, too.
