The Good of Goshen • Kare Anderson

Kare Anderson

Owner, Olympia Candy Kitchen

In 1912, Mr. Sam Husaus opened the Olympia Candy Kitchen on the corner of Main and Clinton. Eight years later, my great grandparents, Nicholas and Leona Paflas, bought the restaurant from Mr. Husaus. We’ve survived a lot of things, and we’re still going strong.

We try to keep the building the same as much as possible. The ceiling, the light fixtures, even some of the booths are original.

Olympia Candy Kitchen has defined who I am. Running this place, having employees, and talking with people every day makes you look at life a little differently.

Because I work here, I try to stay involved. What’s good for Goshen is good for us.
