Tanner Pickett • The Good of Goshen

Tanner Pickett

Boys & Girls Club of Goshen, Area Director

A lot of our kids rely on us for food after school, so we serve meals every day after school during the year, and then during the summer and on breaks we serve lunch and snacks. We saw the need with our kids and decided that over spring break we were going to do what we could to make sure meals were available to all of our members.

Meals are available from 2 to 4 p.m. through this Friday. We actually had a donor make sure that we had enough food to give out on Friday for weekend meals as well.

We are not checking membership. If you’ve got kids who need food, our Child and Adult Care Food Program grant is helping us provide for all the kids that we serve here. They might not be a club member yet, but maybe this is a way that we can help them during this time.

We’ve also got some material we’re passing out to our members for homework help, and just trying to keep them engaged, too. We’re fighting to keep our kids fed, but also feeding their minds as well.

At the Club, we work on academic success, healthy lifestyles, character, and leadership. We’re just trying to give our kids opportunities and set them up to be successful for the future.
